CHAPTER INFO:
This is the official William and Mary alumni website of Greater Metropolitan Washington, DC—including
Northern Virginia, the National Capital Region of Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Approximately 11,800 William and Mary alumni live in the GMWDC Chapter area. This accounts for about
16% of the almost 73,000 W&M alumni nationwide, or nearly a third of the roughly 36,000 alumni living
in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
The Chapter is run entirely by a volunteer board of alumni from the area. Planning and staffing of events is primarily done by the Chapter's standing committees. There are also several important
projects which have not been assigned to any committee specifically, or, in some cases these projects
are supported by several committees and are joint efforts. Below is a short summary of the major standing committees along with
their contacts. Alumni interested in volunteering to help
the Chapter are strongly encouraged to start by attending events and by participating as a member of
a committee that interests them.

The Committee builds and maintains the Chapter's Website, including developing content, designing
artwork, editorial and stylistic guidelines, navigation and layout, HTML, SMIL, CGI, Java, and
JavaScript coding, Website traffic monitoring and analysis, and site promotion. This committee is also responsible for all email communications.

This committee is responsible for conceiving, planning and staffing events. The committee meets on a monthly basis to brainstorm about ideas and assess past events.

The Committee organizes the membership drive each year and maintains a database of member statistics and information.
